Geological Technician

SGDS Hive is a Vancouver-based geological consulting company with a vision to provide progressive, science-based solutions for our clients.

We are currently looking for two Geological Technicians to work on our client’s epithermal gold system in Fiji.

Responsibilities:

• Perform field tasks associated with geotechnical work including core logging, processing XRF and TerraSpec samples, managing simultaneous drill, trenching, and soil sampling programs.
•  Preparing samples for shipment to labs in Australia
•  Leading a team of both Fijian and Canadian staff

Qualifications and Job requirements:

• Diploma in geology, earth sciences or similar
• Two years of GIT status with EGBC or similar Canadian association
• At least two years of Geotechnical Technician experience
• Experience with XRF and TerraSpec Analyzers
• Canadian work permit or citizenship
• Ability to travel internationally for rotations of up to 4 weeks
• Ability to obtain a Fijian work permit. This application will include a criminal background check, proof of vaccines and possession of a passport with at least three full years remaining
• Ability to work in adverse field conditions (rain, heat, insects) and perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50lbs
• Valid driver’s license – the ability to drive a manual transmission is preferred but not required
• A team player with a positive and flexible attitude
• Organized and able to meet deadlines as required
• Open to feedback and collaboration with peers and clients
